Out with the old and tired, in with the new and fresh!

What a quick summer!  But gosh if it wasn’t packed with fun and good memories!  I tried to be sure the kids had some fun and spent some time with friends this summer and also squeezed in some work!  Working from home is clearly fabulous, but if you let it, you can get wrapped up in it so you definitely have to find a good healthy balance of work and family!  I will say, I was so busy making memories and building my business that we have accumulated some excessive clutter and disorganization at the house, and not just with things but with ideas and thoughts, too!  Also, I may have cluttered up my gut and arteries with the kid-friendly diet we enjoyed all summer!

So, today is the first day back to school for the kids and it honestly is a bit bittersweet for me.  I certainly need to gain some control and order back and I know they are both excited to be seeing friends and making new ones, but it’s only been a few hours and Bruno and I already are feeling unnerved by the extreme quiet in this house!  Also, it was a another benchmark day for our son as he walked through the doors of middle school for this first time today.  My, how time has flown by!  My little bald baby is now growing into an adolescent young man.  How did this happen??  And our sweet baby girl is really coming into a beautiful yet spunky personality!  I am so blessed to be able to enjoy these summers and after school now.  Sunday marked the 2nd anniversary of when I presented my notice to my old employer, and while I remember the office, employees, and work, I find it difficult to remember not being home with the kids now.

So with the passing of the anniversary and the kids going back to school, I decided it was time to let go of some old and tired things and habits, and start fresh and new!  First things first, my health!  Again, we had a very kid-friendly diet this summer and I just returned from our national convention where we certainly were enjoying the food and cocktails!  My waist is not visible and my legs are swollen and I know very well that 1. it is totally my fault 2. it was so worth it but 3. I need to start making a few small changes to fix the issues and feel better!  So while packing up Abby’s lunch last night, I also prepared my overnight oats to start on a good note today.  Along with actually having breakfast this morning, I felt like I needed a reboot so I added in a great cleanse to kick off a healthy regimen and lots and lots of water!  I did take a waist measurement and pounds and plan to check again after the gentle three-day cleanse.

Once I am done with the cleanse I will begin the rest of the Metabolism Boost Regimen and make some adjustments to my eating habits but don’t intend to follow a diet.  My good friend and health coach agrees that dieting is setting yourself up to fail while slowly learning better habits and just being mindful of what you put in will yield longer last results.  However, I also know that a little natural boost from the products on the regimen will only help me on this path to feeling and looking healthier!  And of course, I can’t forget the water!

Now that I have my health plan mapped out, I need to de-clutter my schedule and my brain which, oddly enough, I don’t feel prepared to do until I de-clutter my home.  I will be choosing a room and common area to work on each week.  It’s scary to figure out what to let go, but one thing I have always been great at is looking ahead, not backwards. While some things may seem hard to let go of, the feeling of doing so it quite freeing!  Like you are not only ridding of the physical clutter around you but letting go of the clutter in your mind at the same time.  Less clutter in your mind means less stress and more productivity!  I will say, I have doubts on most items I want to let go of.  What if I need that even though we haven’t touched it in a year?  What if I lose 50 pounds and can get back into those jeans from high school?  What if body glitter comes back in style?  What if I need to read that book again, even though I have read it twice and haven’t grabbed it in two years?  These are only a few random thoughts I get as I plan to de-clutter, but I will stop myself and say if it is not a tax document we need to hold onto and has not been touched in six months, it is time to let it go, let it go, it can’t hold me back anymore!  Yes, I have a young daughter and just went there.  I also like to set a goal of one room and one common area a week so I don’t overwhelm myself by pretending I will get it all done immediately!  When we get overwhelmed, we delay and defer!

I can’t just ignore my business while I am working on my health and home, so I will also plan to purge my products (I honestly don’t buy much inventory as we aren’t required to, but always seem to earn things or may have a leftover of a bundle here and there).  I already started that process but have a long way to go.  Once I slim that down I can begin clearing my office space that my husband so graciously built for me and I haven’t used in months!  In the meantime, I will organize my notebooks and be sure I am properly updating my planner with all appointments, not just my normal weekly tasks.  I am great at my Sunday night planner update, but have been horrible at adding appointments as they come in!  With our current incentive of a $10 startup for new reps, I definitely need to get organized and fast!  We have had some very explosive growth more quickly than I ever imagined and I want to be sure to support these folks as best I can!

So, now for the big question…will you be de-cluttering this month?  If so, what will you purge?  Old junk, clothes you never wear, negative thoughts, bad habits?  I would love it if you shared with me by commenting!  Maybe you will inspire me or someone else to do the same!  And be sure to share and subscribe!

Summer Shenanigans

Wow, it has been a while!  But time flies when you’re having fun!  What a wild year it has been so far.  I can’t believe it’s already the middle of summer.  The fun started with an all expense paid cruise for two to Bermuda on the huge and beautiful Anthem of the Seas!  It’s amazing to have been able to treat my hubby to this as it was only a week after our 16th Wedding Anniversary!

And it was just for doing what I love!  It was definitely a fun and amazing experience for our first cruise!  And we ported in Bermuda for a night and walked around the island as well as took a boat tour that had a lot of rum involved!  Needless to say, I felt like a pirate after that!  We also got a kiss under the Moongate to make a wish as it was legend there it meant a long and happy life together! And that is our ship in the background!  Part of it, anyway.

I was super shocked to receive recognition as well, as you can see by the look on my face!  I was in the top ten of reps who earned the trip for new title advancements, which means my team is fabulous and they really deserved the award!  But I was very happy to accept it on their behalf and it was wonderful to share that moment with my hubby!  That’s him in the hat behind me!

After that whirlwind five-night cruise, we returned to reality to wrap up May.  We had end of year activities for the kids including my son’s graduation from elementary school!  I can’t believe I have a child entering middle school!  It even felt weird typing that out!  But he received several awards at his ceremony and was in the top two in his class for math and science!  Proud parent moment for sure!  We are so proud of him!  And our baby girl isn’t a baby anymore!  She is still in elementary but growing so fast!

Speaking of awards, my President’s Recognition Program Luncheon was the day after the Fifth Grade Ceremony and I unexpectedly cleaned up!  I ended up with seven new statuettes, some for sales and some for the team, as well as a certificate for my sales title increase, and a few other goodies for different achievements.  It was a wonderful and heart-filling day!  My mentor even drove all the way up to be with me!  That just made it even more special!

After school let out, we have enjoyed some time at the lake, some time at the pool, and some time with friends, with a little work mixed in of course!  It definitely is a perk to be able to set your own schedule and hit the lake on a Tuesday at 11am!  No crowds!

lakeday

I will say this, I normally use our DEET Free Expedition aerosol spray for a bug repellent and sunblock, but at the lake it is super windy so I grabbed one of the DEET Free Bug Guard Plus Lotions and oh-em-gee is this stuff amazeballs!  My daughter has very sensitive skin and we have had a hard time finding sun block that didn’t break her out and my son is so fair-skinned he normally burns no matter how much we reapply.  But, we spent three hours at the lake one afternoon and she did not get any reapplication and was not burnt at all AND didn’t have any rash from the SPF!  My son got reapplied once in the three hour time and didn’t get burnt (seriously he is much more pale than the rest of us so I didn’t want to risk it).  The bottle does say waterproof for 80 minutes, so to make it stretch the way we did is a huge deal for him and his pastiness!  Most sunblock that says 80 minutes doesn’t even last 30 on him in the water!  The fact is smells good and also repels mosquitoes and no-see-ums as well as many other icky creatures is a plus!

Besides our water play I have enjoyed some fresh made French Toast courtesy of my son the budding chef!  He also has whipped up grilled cheese for his sister a few times!  They have gotten along brilliantly this summer to be together so much!

He has weaseled his way out of several errands and deliveries but my baby girl enjoys riding around with me!  In fact, it’s only during the summer months that she gets to do that with me as well as going to my mentor’s meetings.  During the school year it is just too late for her to be out so I always promise to take her during the summer.  The last time we went down, there were some storms but she was able to see her first rainbow in person ever, and it was a double rainbow at that!  She enjoys being around all my teammates and adores my mentor so I love when I can take her with me.

I was able to help my momma after her knee surgery and my teammates and customers were amazing and patient with me.  She of course rocked that surgery is already released from physical therapy and about to take her second trip to Gulfport post-op!  Her surgery was only in mid-May and she has already traveled TWICE!  It was such a blessing to not worry about a job and just be with my mom since she has always been there for me.  My sister was a huge help, especially the first week, and of course Dad was there in the evenings to take care of her and took her to some appointments because he wanted to.  Other than that, it’s been business as usual working from home most days and getting out to talk to folks others.  The cat always seems irritated with me when I am on the phone a lot during the day; this is his face all day until my hubby gets home!

tango

We were able to catch a few Braves game this year as a family and we love that!  One was 15 innings, though, and we were delirious by the time it was over!  Fun memories, though!

We still have a little bit of summer left, but it sure is flying by.  I will say, my second summer as a work-from-home-momma has been much smoother and more fun!  I will try to not be so delayed on my next installment of Beauty Boss Momma, but glad to catch you all up!
