Summer Shenanigans

Wow, it has been a while!  But time flies when you’re having fun!  What a wild year it has been so far.  I can’t believe it’s already the middle of summer.  The fun started with an all expense paid cruise for two to Bermuda on the huge and beautiful Anthem of the Seas!  It’s amazing to have been able to treat my hubby to this as it was only a week after our 16th Wedding Anniversary!

And it was just for doing what I love!  It was definitely a fun and amazing experience for our first cruise!  And we ported in Bermuda for a night and walked around the island as well as took a boat tour that had a lot of rum involved!  Needless to say, I felt like a pirate after that!  We also got a kiss under the Moongate to make a wish as it was legend there it meant a long and happy life together! And that is our ship in the background!  Part of it, anyway.

I was super shocked to receive recognition as well, as you can see by the look on my face!  I was in the top ten of reps who earned the trip for new title advancements, which means my team is fabulous and they really deserved the award!  But I was very happy to accept it on their behalf and it was wonderful to share that moment with my hubby!  That’s him in the hat behind me!

After that whirlwind five-night cruise, we returned to reality to wrap up May.  We had end of year activities for the kids including my son’s graduation from elementary school!  I can’t believe I have a child entering middle school!  It even felt weird typing that out!  But he received several awards at his ceremony and was in the top two in his class for math and science!  Proud parent moment for sure!  We are so proud of him!  And our baby girl isn’t a baby anymore!  She is still in elementary but growing so fast!

Speaking of awards, my President’s Recognition Program Luncheon was the day after the Fifth Grade Ceremony and I unexpectedly cleaned up!  I ended up with seven new statuettes, some for sales and some for the team, as well as a certificate for my sales title increase, and a few other goodies for different achievements.  It was a wonderful and heart-filling day!  My mentor even drove all the way up to be with me!  That just made it even more special!

After school let out, we have enjoyed some time at the lake, some time at the pool, and some time with friends, with a little work mixed in of course!  It definitely is a perk to be able to set your own schedule and hit the lake on a Tuesday at 11am!  No crowds!

I will say this, I normally use our DEET Free Expedition aerosol spray for a bug repellent and sunblock, but at the lake it is super windy so I grabbed one of the DEET Free Bug Guard Plus Lotions and oh-em-gee is this stuff amazeballs!  My daughter has very sensitive skin and we have had a hard time finding sun block that didn’t break her out and my son is so fair-skinned he normally burns no matter how much we reapply.  But, we spent three hours at the lake one afternoon and she did not get any reapplication and was not burnt at all AND didn’t have any rash from the SPF!  My son got reapplied once in the three hour time and didn’t get burnt (seriously he is much more pale than the rest of us so I didn’t want to risk it).  The bottle does say waterproof for 80 minutes, so to make it stretch the way we did is a huge deal for him and his pastiness!  Most sunblock that says 80 minutes doesn’t even last 30 on him in the water!  The fact is smells good and also repels mosquitoes and no-see-ums as well as many other icky creatures is a plus!

Besides our water play I have enjoyed some fresh made French Toast courtesy of my son the budding chef!  He also has whipped up grilled cheese for his sister a few times!  They have gotten along brilliantly this summer to be together so much!

He has weaseled his way out of several errands and deliveries but my baby girl enjoys riding around with me!  In fact, it’s only during the summer months that she gets to do that with me as well as going to my mentor’s meetings.  During the school year it is just too late for her to be out so I always promise to take her during the summer.  The last time we went down, there were some storms but she was able to see her first rainbow in person ever, and it was a double rainbow at that!  She enjoys being around all my teammates and adores my mentor so I love when I can take her with me.

I was able to help my momma after her knee surgery and my teammates and customers were amazing and patient with me.  She of course rocked that surgery is already released from physical therapy and about to take her second trip to Gulfport post-op!  Her surgery was only in mid-May and she has already traveled TWICE!  It was such a blessing to not worry about a job and just be with my mom since she has always been there for me.  My sister was a huge help, especially the first week, and of course Dad was there in the evenings to take care of her and took her to some appointments because he wanted to.  Other than that, it’s been business as usual working from home most days and getting out to talk to folks others.  The cat always seems irritated with me when I am on the phone a lot during the day; this is his face all day until my hubby gets home!

We were able to catch a few Braves game this year as a family and we love that!  One was 15 innings, though, and we were delirious by the time it was over!  Fun memories, though!

We still have a little bit of summer left, but it sure is flying by.  I will say, my second summer as a work-from-home-momma has been much smoother and more fun!  I will try to not be so delayed on my next installment of Beauty Boss Momma, but glad to catch you all up!
